A Soft Goodbye to the Studio | Annapolis Maternity Photographer
This Annapolis maternity session is one I’ll carry with me for a long time. As I shot it, I had that bittersweet feeling in my chest — the kind that only comes when you know something is ending, even if it’s ending well. This couple’s maternity session was the last I photographed in my old studio at 110 Cathedral Street in Annapolis, MD. And honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better way to close this chapter.
The Couple, The Look, The Energy
She walked in with fiery eyes, a gorgeous smile, and long dark hair — wearing light-wash jeans, a black cami bra, and a crisp white button-down. The kind of effortless look that photographs like poetry. He kept it simple: black shirt, jeans, and a baseball cap that made it into a few frames along with his sense of humor. His willingness to go along with every idea made the whole session. The love between them was unmistakable — attentive, honest, raw, and intimate in a way that didn’t have to try.
A Simple Setup, Full of Depth
We kept things minimal, the way I always love. Drapey neutral sheers on the wall. A low bed with a simple white sheet. Soft light streaming in. The two of them curled into each other — sometimes on the floor, sometimes stretched across the mattress, sometimes just still. The kind of stillness that only comes when two people are completely at ease with each other and with the camera.
Some images needed to be in black and white. Those quieter moments where stripping away color only deepened the feeling. Others stayed soft and warm, honoring the natural light and the comfort of two people truly connected.
What It Means to Be Your Annapolis Maternity Photographer
This studio held so many stories. So much laughter. So much light. Shooting here as an Annapolis maternity photographer for these past years has been one of the great privileges of my work. This final session felt like a soft, grateful exhale of all of that goodness.
My studio at 110 Cathedral Street closed at the end of June 2025 — but studio maternity sessions are absolutely still available. I shoot at your home, outdoors, beautiful rental studios and have access to several stunning locations throughout the Annapolis area. Same warmth, same light, same experience. Just a fresh space.
