If you’re dreaming of family photos surrounded by wildflowers, this session might be exactly what you’re looking for. As a family photographer serving Maryland’s Eastern Shore, I had the joy of meeting this sweet family of three — plus their pup — at Wildly Native Flower Farm in Chestertown, Maryland. The farm is stunning. I was lucky enough to meet Liza, who showed me around and offered guidance on using the property. It was the perfect backdrop for an evening of portraits, play, and real connection.
Into the Flower Fields
We started with classic family portraits in the flower fields. Soft blooms framed their laughter naturally. Then the energy shifted — and it was time to play.

Blanket Games & Blooming Joy
Next, we headed to the open field with one of my favorite session tools — a big blanket. It’s simple, but it works every time. Their son ran, jumped, spun, and laughed. He was fully himself and soaking up every second. We also found dandelions and encouraged him to make a wish. These are the moments I love most. Not just the smile-and-look-here shots, though we get those too. Instead, it’s the real memories in motion that make a gallery feel alive.

Finally, we wrapped up at the gravel lane in front of the farmhouse. Dad and son raced side by side while mom looked on — her smile soft and full. It was the perfect ending.
