If you’ve never booked a photographer before — or it’s been a while — I want you to know that reaching out is the hardest part. Everything after that? I’ve got you. Booking a photographer in Annapolis doesn’t have to feel stressful or complicated, and my whole process is designed to feel more like a conversation with a friend than a formal business transaction.
Here’s exactly what working with me looks like from start to finish.
Step One — The Lead Form and First Conversation
Everything starts when you fill out my lead form. From there I’ll follow up personally — not with an automated response, but an actual message from me. We’ll have a real conversation about what you’re looking for, what’s going on in your life, and whether we’re a good fit for each other.
After that, we’ll hop on a quick consultation call. This is one of my favorite parts of the process because it gives us both a chance to connect before anything is official. I want to hear about your family, your vision, and what matters most to you. And honestly, I want you to get a feel for me too — because the relationship between a photographer and her clients matters enormously.
Step Two — Locking In Your Date
Once we decide to move forward, we’ll sign a contract and secure your date with a deposit. I don’t post a public calendar because I genuinely believe in working around real life. We’re all moms over here — sports schedules, school commitments, family obligations, and unpredictable Maryland weather are all part of the conversation. I build flexibility into my process because that’s what actually works.
Speaking of weather — yes, we talk about that too. Outdoor sessions are always at the mercy of the sky. To ease your mind, especially if we’re scheduling months in advance, I build flexibility into my calendar so there’s always room to adjust.
Step Three — Getting You Ready
Booking is locked in, now what? I send over a detailed styling guide to help you think through outfits, colors, and coordination. Moodboards are another tool I love using — whether you have a clear vision or absolutely no idea where to start, we’ll figure it out together. If you want to see what thoughtful styling can do for a session, check out this post where my talented friend Whitney styled the whole family from head to toe — the results speak for themselves.
A small client closet is available for sessions, with a limited selection of pieces you’re welcome to borrow. I have multiple resources (shoppable Amazon storefront, ShopMy & LTK curated lists) to inspire and make checking out a breeze. Styling and makeup add-ons are available too, if you want to feel extra polished and taken care of on session day. I’m also always happy to suggest locations based on your vibe, your family’s energy, and what will photograph beautifully in the season we’re working with.
Before your session, you’ll fill out a questionnaire that helps me understand your family a little better — your kids’ personalities, things that make them laugh, anything I should know going in. The more I know, the more intentional I can be on the day.
What to Expect on Session Day
Here’s what I want you to hear before we even meet: it doesn’t have to be perfect. Uncooperative kids? Totally normal. Awkward in front of the camera? Same. Not knowing what to do with your hands? Every single person feels that way. My job is to make you forget the camera is there.
My job is to make you forget the camera is there. I’ll guide you through prompts and movements that feel natural rather than posed. Your kids will laugh — I’ll make sure of it. Whatever energy shows up that day — tired toddler, shy kindergartner, wiggly baby — I’ve seen it all, I embrace it, and genuinely love all of it. The imperfect, in-between, real moments are usually my favorites anyway.y.
Sessions typically run between 45 minutes and an hour, sometimes longer depending on what we’ve planned together. We move, we play, we let things unfold. And by the end, most families tell me it went by way faster than they expected.

After Your Session — The Gallery
Within two to three weeks of your session, you’ll receive a link to your online gallery. Turnaround time can vary slightly by season — busy fall and holiday months may take a little longer — but I’ll always keep you in the loop so you know what to expect.
Your gallery will be filled with fully edited images ready to download and treasure. But beyond the digital files, I also offer a curated selection of print products and heirloom goods through my professional lab partners — think fine art prints, albums, wall art, and keepsakes that are a serious step above anything you’d order at a big box store. If you want help choosing products or figuring out what would look beautiful in your home, that’s a conversation I genuinely love having. Your photos deserve to live somewhere other than your camera roll.
The Bottom Line
Booking a photographer in Annapolis should feel exciting — not anxiety-inducing. My process is intentionally flexible, personal, and designed to take as much off your plate as possible. You just show up. I’ll handle the rest.
